Well if this error occurs under your 'JoomArt Extensions Manager', please try to find the solution following this link http://www.joomlart.com/forums/showthread.php?45857-JFolder-create-Could-not-create-directory .

If this link doesn't give you the solution, please try to click the configurations link to check configurations under 'JoomArt Extensions Manager'.

Normally it might prompt with an error message, if so please check the value for 'Local Repository Path' and if the folder doesn't exist create it with permission, in my case the folder name is 'jaextmanager_data'.

I hope this solution works for you :)

Error with CRM Installation

If you receive this type of error message while you are installing Vtiger CRM.

You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near 'Type=InnoDB' at line 7Error: Tables partially created. Table creation failed.

Please follow the instructions.

Go to schema folder and open DatabaseSchema.xml and remove the following codes 'Type=InnoDB' .

And try to re-install the installation again.

Recently I saw some episodes of Cyril: Simply Magic which are been broadcasted on AXN.

After checking on YouTube and found out that Cyril were part of other magic shows too. One of them is T.H.E.M. After watching I am impressed. I thought better share it on my blog too.

Error 0xc0204016: DTS.Pipeline - SQL Server

It was just another week back. I've been asked to transfer data from SQL server to MS Access and Excel. It is been little longer time that I have used SQL Server. So I thought it as a challenge! I know there were tools to do the needful. However, the best tool was Data Transformation Services (DTS) which came with SQL Server 2000 in the old days. Now it is more improved and it bundles with SQL Server 2005 and the tool named SQL Server Integrated Services (SSIS).

Now for SQL Server 2005 Express edition you have to download this and install it separately.

Download the Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express Edition Toolkit (223.9 MB)

And later you can run it

Run "C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\90\DTS\Binn\DTSWizard.exe"

I thought work is going to be easy until I found the error messages I have received. I searched through the Net to find the solution. There were, however they were not simple as I thought.

Some were explaining to change the destination source file, such as to change the table column to memo. It is little confusing, since the tables are yet to be created.

I tried few SQL scripts too and nothing went well.

The reason this error message prompted was that one of the column field size is more than accepted at the destination file (in my case it is MS Access).

After reading this article (http://blogs.msdn.com/b/sqlazure/archive/2010/06/01/10018602.aspx) only I have realised that I did not try to change the source file column data type as required. By changing the particular table column data type longtext(8000) to varchar(max) allowed me to transfer the SQL server data to MS Access.

It was not easy. However I was able to end it.

Endhiran a phenomenon

Long awaited director Shankar's & super star Rajni Kanth's movie Endhiran previewed from 30th of September 2010 world wide! It is a rush.. In Sri Lanka premier ticket shows were been sold at higher prices than ever. I am a super star fan since my childhood and I love shankar's movies. I am so enthusiast about watching the movie at first as a premier show. Somehow, I was able to secure the tickets for 9.30pm show on 30th September 2010. I am not a guy who visits theater often and staying on que to watch a movie. Most of the time invited for premier tickets. Last time was Aadhavan and that is last year.

I read some review on websites before going to the movie. They were damn good. http://roborajini.com/enthiran-news/endhiran-movie-mega-hit/ . Even though the ticket price were high, the premier shows were packed all over.

Well about the movie. The storyline is, Vasigaran the scientist (Super star) invents a Robo (Chitti) spending last 10 years which is going to be dedicated to the army to use it in the battle. As a hardwork of 10 years he sends Chitti in a real environment to test its ability and accordingly correct/upgrade/fix it.

However, Professor/Guru of Vasigaran dislikes his own student's invention as a result he disapproves the Robo as a useless machine. Since Chitti doesn't have any feelings and can't distinguish between the commands given. Even few of the events disapproves it is a useless machine.

As a result Vasi plans to fix the problem by adding feelings to Chitti and teaching him about them. However, Chitti who with the feelings now falls in love with Sana (Aishwarya Rai) who is Vasi's girlfriend. Thereafter whether Chitti able to continue his feelings of love with Sana or not is the storyline.

First part of the movie is hilarious and thrilling. As the time pasts it is more thrilling and action packed.

It is just a brief overview of the Endhiran movie by myself. :D

Google Instant

Google Instant is a fastest way to browse the search results while you type. Yes it is fast. However, my question is, is this not a more process than older one at Google end??? Think about it. It is going query more than actual results. In other hand same for Google search image results. It is going to consume more bandwidth though. Maybe for Google it does not matter. Since they own their own backbone for Internet speed.

In addition, you should have the latest browsers to use the Google Instant.

I just started installing the new ColdFusion on my PC. I am looking at ColdFusion after 2 years. It is been a long rest without ColdFusion.

If you are dealing with Vista which is not user friendly like the old XP! So lot of workaround. Since Vista build in with lot of security functionality. Even the normal Home Edition!

It is been frustrating after installing and still I am unable to connect with MS SQL Server 2005 due to an error message.

java.sql.SQLException: [Macromedia][SQLServer JDBC Driver]No more data available to read.
The root cause was that: java.sql.SQLException: [Macromedia][SQLServer JDBC Driver]No more data available to read.

I spend like more than 6 hours and still no results. I was searching on the web to get the solution.

Even ColdFusion logs are not helpful. Suddenly I thought better check out my event logs.

Vola!!!

The error message was "Encryption is required to connect to this server but the client library does not support encryption; the connection has been closed. Please upgrade your client library. [CLIENT: 127.0.0.1]"

Yes, I was testing with CF Datasources to find out whether any issues with SQL server authentication. However, results were null.

So, yes I understood the problem. I just flew to the SQL Server Configuration Manager and Collapsed the menu "SQL Server 2005 Network Configuration" and chose the "Protocols for your SQL server name" and right click on it and selected properties and change the setting "Force Encryption" to NO and just restarted SQL server.

Now it is working like a baby! It took little more time to find out, however, it is worth though!

I can't assure the same solution will work for your problem. Always try to check the Event Logs for any clue about the error messages.

Iphone launched it self in to the worlds' biggest market China today. However, original Iphone packs with less applications and no Wi-Fi (According to government regulations) in China.

In addition, original Iphone sells for more than 700US$ or 1000US$ which is sold by China's Telecom Unicorn. Where market viewers’ looks at this price as high for a average buyer.

Anyhow, still you can get an Iphone for lesser price from various Chinese markets, where it bundles with Wi-Fi and more applications!

Iphone is there since year 2007 and it is been sold more than 2 million already and they were illegally imported from US, Hong Kong and other countries.

Internationalized Domain Names in your own Native Language

As I heard, in the current ongoing ICANN conference in Seoul, Korea, ICANN came to a decision on accepting on Internationalized Domain Names on none Latin Characters. This means that a domain name can be in Chinese, Hindi or any other specific languages. This technology to be launched on 16 November 2009 by ICANN.

However, as I wonder if I get name card from a person and the website refers in there own language, how do I type?

Unable to login Typo3 admin after migration

Recently I had a chance to work with Typo3. Typo3 a CMS, which is similar to other Open Source CMS such as Joomla, Drupal, Word Press etc...

When you are comparing with other CMS types, there are pros and cons always there for any type of products. For me Typo3 looks more advance and complicated comparing to other CMS types.

Recently I was been migrating Typo3 from Live server to Dev server, after migrating Typo3, it worked fine without any errors. Only issue I had was, unable to log in to Typo3 admin section. After a long struggle, I found a solution, which posted on a website. http://lists.netfielders.de/pipermail/typo3-install/2007-January/000280.html

However, the solution given over there was not compatible with the current version of MYSQL I had, which is you have to replace the current variable in my.ini file as "sql_mode=MYSQL40", where I was unable to find "SQL_MODE" instead able to find "SQL-MODE".

The particular line for "sql-mode" was stated as "# Set the SQL mode to strict
sql-mode="STRICT_TRANS_TABLES,NO_AUTO_CREATE_USER,NO_ENGINE_SUBSTITUTION"". In addition, I did not add the sql-mode="MYSQL40" than I have commented existing line
as #sql-mode="STRICT_TRANS_TABLES,NO_AUTO_CREATE_USER,NO_ENGINE_SUBSTITUTION" .

Yes, it worked like charming and now I am able to log in to Typo3 admin without any problems.

The Google Story

No, today is not a sunny evening! Suddenly there was a storm passing through our area and total electricity break down. Yes, another day without a computer. While thinking what to do, just thought to read a book. Yes, it is been a year I bought that book and still hanging in my bookshelf.

“The Google Story” is the book. I bought it year ago, read it like five chapters, and suddenly left without reading it from chapter 6 (Burning Man). Since I am seeking technical type of story from the book, suddenly it became boring reading the sixth chapter, but later found out it is not.

In "Burning Man" story where it tells how Google guys got the idea of creating different type of Logo for events, etc... Indeed that chapter was interesting.

I started reading the "The Google Story" while doing a trip and able to finish the remaining chapters in one month time.

For me it is a big achievement, since there are many books hanging in my bookshelf!

When I ever talk with people regarding Google, I normally say "Hey you know Google have put there “PageRank” system for registering in patent office and you know the system carries around 500 million variables and 2 billion terms". People look at me ask, "How do you know it?" I say, I read it from the book! They look me weirdly, specially the day I wear a Google T-shirt and do the talk.

I always thought Page Rank means since Google rank pages and it named it as "PageRank", sorry, you are totally wrong! When Google came to do as the search engine, they want to make it powerful and make the search results relevant and especially they want to rank sites based on popular, none other than Larry Page (Yeah Page) is who created the rank system. So, yes, the ranking system named as "PageRank". I do not know how many SEO gurus know this!

I love there corporate policy about giving the employee 20% of the time to unleash there own potential.

And, yeah about everyday meal menus and different type of cuisines at Google.

How did they make it globally? Making business deal AOL Europe! Going for China investment (One of Microsoft employee moves to Google as the head with trouble).

Before IPO offering, story published in Playboy magazine and the issues they met before going public.

I, can talk lot more, it is interesting.

One way I say, "I can not imagine my self Internet without Google"!

LOTS 2008 JCI Sri Lanka

It was a wonderful event on this year with lot of good speakers from JCI. We enjoyed and learnt lot from LOTS 2008.

LOTS 2008 been happened at Renuka hotel on first of March 2008 as a day event.

The event been packed with speakers from JCI Sri Lanka such as JCI Senator Ananda Chittambalam, JCI Senator Ananda Kasthurachchi and JCI Senator Prasantha Lal De Alwis.

Event been started with lighting the oil lamp and followed by JCI Senator and National President JCI Sri Lanka 2008 Niroshan De Silva, Deputy National President JC Bimal, JC Senator Ananda Chittambalam and the Lots Project chairman JC Gerard.

It was so inspiring to listen to the first speaker JC Senator Ananda Chittambalam he did a speech on meeting procedure, protocols and parliamentary procedure. He also gave some tips to JC's how to be a good speaker. This includes a speech should have an intro, subject and finishing. It was a wonderful session on that day.

Later the first session we had a tea break.

The second session been started on the topic of Constitution. The session speaker was Ananda Kasthuriachchi, since he was little late to the session, the session was assigned to JCI Sri Lanka 2008 legal counselor Shian.

Later arrival of JC Ananda Kasthuriachchi event continued with the topic of constitution of JCI Sri Lanka.

After the session of constitution, JC's been invited have there lunch. We had a good Sri Lankan menu on that day by Renuka Hotel.

During the lunch, I had a chat with Kollupitiya president and Wellawatte president.

After the lunch, we had a session with JCI senator Prasantha Lal De Alwis who is a lawyer and one of Sampath Bank Sri lanka board director. He is a good trainer and speaker of JCI Sri Lanka. He covered the topic of roles of JCI local officers.

This session was very useful, since I am being a secretary to my chapter. It taught me lot of things.

We had some more sessions and the event ended after giving the certification to the participants.

To this event, I played a little role as a project secretary and it taught me something to my career too.

A wonderful job done by JC Gerard Wickrema who been the Project Chairman of LOT 2008.

Browser war is continuing

Browser war is continuing

Recently I came across a problem. Testing through browsers, every web designers does this if they know the problems of the Internet browsers have.

When I started my web designing career it was year 2000, big browser markets were IE and Netscape. So what ever I do in IE won't be good looking at Netscape. The time I was testing for browser compatible it was frustrating. You will waste your entire day for this alone.

And this is still continuing. Why is it? Because like most of the browser companies doesn't adopt the real standards. Actually every one knows for web standards W3C is the main organisation to identify potential standards and releasing to public. So any body can adopt it and can implement this in there products.

But what really happens is most of the browser companies who dominate the browser industry tries hop with there own standard or don't follow the real standards at all.

This problem is continuing for ages for now. It is a web designer headache.

Like few weeks back I have finished a site tested on IE6 and FireFox latest. So later when it was tested on new IE7, ok seems to me you have to do some tweak for that new browser type too. Almost some of the CSS stuff didn't work. Later only I have found that they have tried to adopt the real standards! So most of the time we web designer does is some hacks to work on both browsers. Again you have to do the same thing for newest IE7.

Since I am not that much CSS geek, due to that I never gone through lot of problems with CSS. In my every site will try to minimize the CSS workarounds, so you don't get too much problems.

Recently I found something call conditional comments, IE have introduced this IE5/IE5.5 release. This functionality was very useful to minimize the CSS problems between browsers.

Anyhow I am short of time will write more on CSS in the near future. I am sleepy!

Flash & sign problem

Flash & sign problem

Well I had this problem few years back like when you are using external files to define variables such as using a text file where you define a variable like &myName=hello or something but mean time you can't put the same & sign inside the value.

For an example &myName=Hello & You

But later I have discovered how to put those signs. Only thing we have to do is encode the particular sign and you can place that code within the variable value.

So it will look like this. &myName=Hello %26 You
Tada now it will work like charming!
Can encode any type of sign and characters going to the particular link.

Coldfusion to ASp.net?

Well one of the stupid things I did? I don't know... I am recently moved to Asp.net with C#. Kind of intresting too... But you should have a good idea how Asp.net works far from the general server-side scripting languages. Other wise you are totally out of the box. As I have been with ColdFusion more than 4 years and even I have been used Asp. But for me still ColdFusion is one of the cool server-side scripting language ever I have used.

Lack of Asp.net is, you can't get a good documentation from Microsoft. To learn through MSDN, you should be a geek to use it. Other wise if we had a good documentation on the .Net Framework with set of good examples it will be easy to use.

Mean time .Net Framework huge and you can do what ever with the same language you are using at Vs.net. But at ColdFusion if you like to do more advance stuff you should be able to know Java/C++.

I miss you ColdFusion!

Been at the Water Edge on Friday 5th Oct 2007 for the National Best Quality Awards Sri Lanka. The event was fascinating. And well my company also owned an award at the ceremony.

This event was organised by BCS. And the good news I heard was from the one of the guest of honor(From USAID - Rebeca) that Colombo ranking 7 for outsourcing and it leads the Indian cities such as Hyderabad and Chennai.

More over enjoyed the dinner, a different one from water edge. But couldn't understand the flavor. After the desert you won't feel to eat more!

Affno won the overall award.

Galle Career Guidance Fair 2007

Story Line

Asp get file path

Just was searching all over the net to find a asp code get the absolute path to set dsn, top search results of the Google didn't give me any solution. So I got this from one of the asp book.

A simple script. This will be useful most of the time to set ODBC DSN connection!

You can replace the yourFileName with the file name you are using to get the path.

response.write (server.mappath("test.asp"))

Results:

C:\Inetpub\vhosts\mydomain.com\subdomains\demo\httpdocs\test.asp

Just only starting to blogging

It is long time ago a question regarding what is called weblog and again blogs. I didn't understand the term even what is the use of it. Now after few years later now I do realise what is so potential about blogging, specially with blogger.Com's advanced options.

Even I thought to create my own web based software which will enable to post my works, opinions and reviews, but later date I have realised that blogger allows the same options which I have thought to do so.

So now I am ready to blogging!! Are you too?
